Support and
Self-help Groups
Survivor Support groups for are a way of empowering people to help themselves, and others, on the path to recovery. Support groups are free of charge and are usually led by a nonprofessional that has already completed a similar program. These groups help end the isolation that many survivors feel when going through recovery. Support groups might provide weekly groups, factual information, resources, retreats, social events, and other services. A description of some of the services that our groups provide can be found on our Groups page. |
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy offers many advantages, including allowing one to have the full attention of a professional therapist, freer scheduling for appointments, and less anxiety than speaking in front of a group of people. Many survivors might attend individual therapy before going to a support group or use a support group as an adjunct to individual therapy. However, individual therapy can be quite costly. For more information on therapists in the NWA area, things you might consider when choosing a therapist, or for recommendations, contact one of our staff. |
Self-Help
Self help allows people to benefit from the experience of others who have been through the same problems. Self-help is available in multiple formats: books, seminars, self-help groups, videos, internet chat rooms, workbooks, etc. Self-help can be a cost effective way to continue treatment beyond individual therapy or support groups.
